About This Institution

Welcome to the college where EGD was born!

Hunter College is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and is one of the many colleges within the City University of New York - the public university system of the five boroughs.

The Esports and Game Design Collective of Hunter College runs events every Friday night from 5:30-8PM, in HN 543 (Blackbox Theater) and the club office is located in TH 307.

Hunter Currently offers varsity and JV esports teams in League of Legends, Overwatch, CS:GO, Valorant, and SSBU.

Students interested in studying game development, esports management, or other games-related studies can create specialized degrees through a joint program between EGD's Game Studio Program or Esports Management Program and CUNY Baccalaureate for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies (CUNY BA).

As the flagship institution within the EGD Collective, many EGD HQ events are held on the Hunter College campus and the campus is currently home to the EGD HQ office!

Originally known as the Game Design Collective, the Esports and Game Design Collective of Hunter College was founded on November 9th, 2016. After being denied to charter officially as a club with Hunter College, the organization ended up joining forces with a multitude other games-related clubs and submitted an appeal to try and charter together as one. The appeal was denied and the organization was told to wait until the next application cycle.

The organization continued to operate anyways, thanks to the dedication of its members and the support of the Theater Department. In September 2018, the Esports and Game Design Collective of Hunter College was approved to charter and became an official student organization of the college. We are proud to be able to continue to provide a place where everyone, regardless of their relationship to games or the games industry can come together in a welcoming environment.
