The Experience

Find your community. Earn your degree. Change the game.

It's dangerous to go alone! Take this.

EGD is designed to help you explore who you are and prepare for the future you want—whether that future is in games, technology, the arts, business leadership, or something you haven’t discovered yet. During your time here, you can:

  • Join or form a crew (your team, your support network, your people)

  • Work with Crew Guides who mentor you and help you grow

  • Take on quests that build skills and confidence

  • Travel locally, regionally, or nationally

  • Explore new communities, industries, and creative spaces

  • Earn our highest awards, Tyro, Practicioner, and Fellow

  • Become part of a multi-generational community that continues long after graduation

...and we can’t wait to meet you!

It Starts With a Crew

When you join the program, you’ll either find a crew in your nearest Hub or decide to start one of your own. You can also participate solo if that’s the path that fits you best. Your crew is the group you’ll adventure with—completing quests, exploring your city or town, building skills, and finding a community that grows with you.

Crew Members are emerging adults ages 18–29* who are continuing their education or beginning their post-college chapter, including:

  • Students enrolled in college* as degree-seeking candidates

  • Students on a temporary gap who intend to return to finish their degree

  • Graduates holding a degree from a college**

*College students aged 16-17 may join a crew, however high school students who are dual-enrolled in college courses but have not graduated from high school are not yet eligible. Older adults 30+ may become a new Crew Member if they are currently enrolled in their first undergraduate degree program and stay eligible up to 2 years after graduation.

**College includes any form of tertiary education, such as trade schools, tribal colleges, and seminaries, at institutions that lead to a credential and are eligible for federal aid.

You Choose Your Challenges

You can explore hundreds of quests, awards, projects, and experiences that cover everything from building your first game to starting a business, and if there isn’t an existing one, you can create your own. Quests are the core of the EGD program, and you can go on as many or as little as you wish. Each quest covers a specific topic or skill, and many have multiple levels to complete for topics you’re especially interested in.

As you progress, you might choose to pursue our highest awards through one of two structured pathways:

Studio Track
Large-scale game development within a 40+ member production team.

Strategic Track
Project-based leadership focused on measurable and sustainable impact.

Growth Happens in Stages

Members move through three developmental stages, tied to three leadership domains:

Exploration is about getting to know yourself—your strengths, values, and the habits that help you feel like an adult.

Collaboration is about relationships, communication, and building a sense of belonging.

Innovation is about taking initiative and turning ideas into action.

Everyone’s journey is different, and you will move through the stages at your own pace. Most members spend 1–3 years in each stage. This gives you time to build mastery, try different quests, work with your crew, and discover your own strengths and interests.

Beyond the Meeting Room

EGD extends beyond weekly meetings. Members travel, attend industry events, collaborate across Hubs, and build relationships that continue after graduation.

This is a space to try new things, make mistakes safely, challenge yourself, and learn through doing.

Whether you stay for a year or for your entire emerging adulthood, this community will grow with you. What you put into it, you will get back many times over—through friendships, opportunities, skills, and experiences you can’t get anywhere else.

Learn More About Trips & Travel

I  was a lone wolf and never had been a part of a lasting community, but EGD has connected me with others. These connections, along with the community’s friendliness and openness to different opinions and backgrounds, have allowed me to have the experiences necessary to build into where I am.

My internship is essentially my full-time job now, and I wouldn’t have been able to do it if not for the people at EGD.

Social Media Strategist II - Riot Games

I applied to a scholarship and got rejected last time, but after I started working with EGD and a coach to revise my essay I made the cut! I've never seen that much money before... I met wonderful people that are pushing me in a positive direction, and I wouldn't have gotten this if I hadn't met them. If you join EGD you gain the confidence and skills to do it.
