Start a Crew
If your Hub hasn’t reached its Crew limit, you can form a brand-new one. Starting a Crew is simple: gather at least 6 Crew members and 2 Crew guides who are excited to begin this journey together.

Anatomy of a Crew
Crew Members
Crew Members are emerging adults ages 18–29 who are continuing their education or just beginning their post-college chapter, including:
-
Students enrolled in college* as degree-seeking candidates
-
Students on a temporary gap who intend to return to finish their degree
-
Graduates holding a degree from a college*
College students aged 16-17 may join a crew, however high school students who are dual-enrolled in college courses but have not graduated from high school are not yet eligible.
Older adults 30+ may become a new Crew Member if they are currently enrolled in their first undergraduate degree program and stay eligible up to 2 years after graduation.
*College includes any form of tertiary education, such as trade schools, tribal colleges, and seminaries, at institutions that lead to a credential and are eligible for federal aid.
Crew Guides
Crew Guides are active mentors who attend meetings, support your progress, and sign off on quests. Guides can come from many different backgrounds:
-
Any EGD member who has achieved Fellowship and is 23+
-
Industry professionals or college faculty/staff who are 25+
-
Parents, relatives, alumni, and other community leaders who are 30+
You may notice that some people between ages 23–29 are eligible to be both Crew Members and Crew Guides. Guides must always be at least four years older than the members they support, but it’s completely normal to hold both roles at once.
A great guide walks alongside a Crew (not ahead of them) and helps turn their goals into reality. Many Crew Guides maintain dual membership, often participating in #25 Ars Aeterna or #99 Solus Sequens while also guiding a younger Crew.
Hubs
A Hub provides shared infrastructure and programming for multiple Crews within a region.
A Hub does not replace Crews. It supports them by:
-
Training Guides
-
Ensuring awards are reviewed fairly
-
Coordinating cross-crew events
-
Managing a Studio
-
Representing the Collective regionally
If you are applying to start in a city without an existing Hub, you are proposing a Crew. Hub designation is considered once 40+ members exist across Crews in your region.
Choosing Your Crew Name
Once you have your members and guides, it’s time for one of the most fun moments—picking your Crew name and number. There are 25 Crew identities to choose from, each with its own meaning, history, and legacy.
You may choose any of the 25, with two simple rules:
-
You can’t pick a name already used in your Hub. If a name speaks to you but already has a Crew, consider joining them. You may have more in common than you think.
-
#25 Ars Aeterna, is reserved for Crews made entirely of post-graduates.
Choosing a Crew connects you to everyone who has carried that name before you and to all those who will come after. Every crew has a story, and you become part of that story the moment you join.
Crew names are shared across Hubs, and you are encouraged to connect with members in your crew across North America!
Members without a nearby Hub, or those who prefer to walk their own unique path, are placed in #99 Solus Sequens.
If multiple members graduate, age out, or move on, a Crew may fall below sustainable numbers. Sometimes a full Crew cycle completes naturally. Maybe your Crew members started at the same time, and are ending at the same time.
If your Crew disbands, the number is returned as an option for new Crews to choose when forming. Consider creating a welcome package for incoming members and guides who choose your number!
Noticed anyone with zeros? #00 Origo Ordinis is a Crew designator for those that participated in an EGD program as a member before Crews existed. It translates to Origin of the Order. Respect your elders!

What Can My Crew Do?
Anything you want! This is your Crew. There are no minimum quest quotas, no required awards, and no mandatory trips. The only non-negotiable? A regular meeting cadence. This can be weekly, monthly, or anywhere in between.
Aging Out at 30
The only true “end” of your time as a Crew Member is when you turn 30, the upper limit of our emerging-adult age range. Until that day, you remain fully eligible to participate, regardless of your school enrollment status.
Any currently enrolled undergraduate students over the age of 29 who have not completed their degrees continue to be eligible until 2 years after graduation.
Continuing Your Journey as an Alumni Member
Even after aging out at 30, your connection doesn’t end. You join a national alumni network that stays engaged through:
-
Gatherings, conferences, and special events
-
Alumni mentorship networks
-
Volunteering at Hubs or national programs
-
Supporting or leading service and community projects
-
Retreats, summits, and alumni-only experiences
The program may guide you through your emerging adulthood, but its influence reaches far beyond. As a certain Hylian once said: no matter where you go in life, there’s always something waiting for you.
