EGDorm @ GDC

Stay with fellow students, network, and make the most of your GDC experience with our affordable housing option!

EGDorm will be located at HI Hostel Fisherman's Warf.

Why stay with us?

  • $252 for the entire week!

  • Accompaniment to/from the airport

  • No true strangers -- all people staying in EGDorm are students, recent grads, or EGD staff/alumni.

  • Built-in community!

You can always choose to book your own bed at HI, but you will get placed with random roommates. Joining our group means you'll be in one of our group rooms!

Deep Details

As of 10/25/2025 - we have space for 122 more people. We will be reserving our first batch of beds on October 31st for the people who have already put down deposits and anyone who does so up until that day. After that, we will request space from HI as needed as deposits come in. We are dedicated to helping every person find affordable housing for GDC, so if you find yourself in the waiting list, we will help you find  housing at the same price point - our overflow usually is 5ish blocks away at Samesun San Francisco.

HI requires a 50% deposit on all group bookings. EGD can buy out space room by room as deposits come in from anyone able to commit early. You can put down $125 (half) or the full $250, and if you change your mind by January 1st, 2026 - we'll uno reverse it back to you. After that, as long as we can find someone to replace you, we can honor refunds (which generally has been possible - we had a waiting list last year). We will request the other half by January 1st. You will get an email after paying the deposit from Springly, at which point you are confirmed to have a bed reserved for you!

We can honor groups of 2-4 that want to stick together, and we'll make solo experiences as comfortable and inclusive as possible. If you have accommodation requests we will do our best to honor them (for example, if we have enough people we can designate a room as a lower-stimulation room, with low-lighting and extended quiet hours). There are a limited amount of ADA accessible rooms at HI. All requests should be emailed to gdc@egdcollective.org

While we welcome international travelers, we cannot sponsor visas or assist with that process.

DORM FAQ:

I could book this place on my own, why should I do it through you guys?
Generally, you room with strangers at HI. There is no way to guarantee you'll be placed with peers. If beds get bought in a room before we buy out a room, that room is no longer able to be bought out by us (high chance for strangers). While HI is very safe, even with strangers, that can be intimidating! Grouping up with us ensures you'll at least be with other students/recent grads/early career professionals, and raises our chances that the majority of the place will be us!

Can I share the payment link?
Yes, but we ask that anyone joining EGDorm also fill out the original google form so we can keep track of everyone.

What's the difference between sending half deposit, or the full amount? What if you run out of space before I'm able to commit to a deposit?
Paying in full gives us some breathing room to reserve more space ahead of time for community members who, due to financial constraints, might not be able to put down a deposit as early. Regardless, you're confirmed if you pay half. We are dedicated to helping every person find affordable housing for GDC, so if you find yourself as part of the latter we will find overflow housing. We were able to find a secondary location at this price range near the main hostel only a few weeks prior to GDC (while it doesn't have memory foam mattresses like this one, it does the job). Our overflow usually is 5ish blocks away at Samesun San Francisco.

Any fine print?
For legal purposes, funds processed through our Springly portal are considered a charitable donation to the EGD Collective. All individuals who donate are considered full members of the EGD Collective for AY25-26 and will gain voting rights within the organization (whether or not you use them is up to you, but it allows us to keep everything tax free).
