COMPANY CULTURE

Overview:

  • A diverse live streaming service, most notably for games.

  • 5,000+ employees.

  • Headquarters in San Francisco, California.

Values:

  • Diversity and inclusivity

Employee Feedback:

  • Rated 3.5/5 on Glassdoor and 4.3/5 on Indeed

Since Twitch has been quickly growing and is a subsidiary of Amazon, employee testimonials on Glassdoor and Indeed varied based on department and the months that reviews were written. The primary drawback of working for Twitch seems to be inexperienced or unstable management. Employees mention that Twitch’s fast growth has led to instability in management that can impede performance or create a subpar work environment. Reviews seem especially critical around the spring of 2020 during the pandemic, but appear to somewhat improve after the summer as employees indicated changes to management had taken place. With that being said, Twitch is the only company I have seen to reach out to employees under their reviews and offer them solutions or opportunities for their complaints to be heard. Many employees speak highly of the advantages that Twitch offers. These include free meals, unlimited vacation, great benefits/healthcare, workshops, and more. Reviews complement the positive work environment and passionate staff. The pay seems to be respectable depending on your department, some employees complained that it was lower than industry standards and some expressed their content. It is important to keep in mind that Twitch is still maturing, experiencing constant change, so employees that are adaptable will have a more positive experience. Even though Twitch is connected with Amazon, reviews still indicate a start-up feel. Overall, employees feel that their efforts create positive change, and aside from complaints regarding management, Twitch is portrayed as a rewarding company to work for.
